On last week’s Riffs episode, Lydia and I talked about the BBC and potential changes to the licence. This week, and to share the love, we focused on Channel 4 and ITV, who have both made a number of announcements lately.

Channel 4

Channel 4 had a stellar September in terms of streaming figures:

  • It said it was the fastest growing of the leading streaming platforms in September
  • It was the biggest streamer among commercial broadcasters for 16-34 viewing with 460m viewer minutes
  • This number helped contribute towards the 6.7 billion viewing minutes delivered last month; up 36% YOY
  • Among all commercial broadcasters this year, Channel 4 remains the most upmarket streamer (58% of audience via ABC1s) and joint youngest streamer (23% of audience via 16-34s)
  • In addition, young people now watch 52% of their Channel 4 viewing via streaming – a greater proportion than any other commercial broadcaster
  • And building on its super September, Channel 4 this week posted its best-ever day on record for streaming views (7 October)

And, of course, it had done content deals with Freely and UKTV.

ITV

ITV’s two stories were, first, that ITVX Premium is now available as a bolt-on subscription in Amazon Prime Video. And second, it launched a new GenAI Ads Manager Powered by Magnite’s streamr.ai.

Hope you enjoy the video!
