Ben talks to Lior Friedman, Co-Founder, Head of Business Development, at RoseBerry, about the opportunity for “vertical television” beyond micro dramas. Lior explains how the company is developing originals and adapting existing programmes for mobile audiences, including reality, true crime and scripted content. Repurposing takes more than cropping a landscape picture: pacing, music, graphics and storytelling all need to suit a different viewing experience. He shares lessons from testing library titles, including how audience behaviour revealed the best moment to introduce a paywall.
Ben also challenges Lior on the balance between AI automation and human creativity, what differentiates RoseBerry, and whether vertical video could prove to be a bubble. Lior describes how editorial workflows have evolved from largely manual production to an AI-supported process with human creative oversight, and argues that strong stories, specialist expertise and rapid audience feedback will determine success. For content owners considering a vertical strategy, his advice is to start experimenting with existing assets and learn what viewers will watch—and pay for.
