24i Media, an industry-leading, global video app developer, today announced that it is helping power STIRR, the newly launched streaming service from Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Sinclair’s STIRR, powered in part by 24i Media’s app technology, makes popular national news, sports, entertainment, local news and other content available on a variety of mobile and connected TV device platforms in the US.

We are glad to be working with innovative and technology-driven partners like Sinclair Broadcast Group, as our work together contributes to the continuous enhancement of our technology platform and enables us to stay at the forefront of the latest media technologies and services,” said Ramon Duivenvoorden, CCO at 24i Media.

Using 24i’s module-based technology, media companies and broadcasters such as Sinclair, can create and launch immersive and flexible streaming video services on all screens, tailored to their needs. With this modular approach, customers are offered a faster and more flexible way of building their apps with state-of-the-art components and third-party integrations.

STIRR extends the reach of broadcast content and brings our original digital content to even more users,” said Adam Ware, general manager of STIRR.  “24i’s application development platform has helped us efficiently deliver an exceptional product.

Leveraging 24i’s SmartTemplate solution and proprietary AppCore technology platform allows for smooth customization and repurposing of the user interface, offering scalability and a template-based approach for easy customization across a number of connected devices and enhancements at any time. 24i and Sinclair worked together to ensure consistency of the STIRR branding across Apple TV, Android, FireTV, Roku and iOS.

The OTT multiscreen environment is always changing, and it’s important that broadcasters differentiate the user experience and ensure a fast time to market for their services,” said Martijn van Horssen, CEO at 24i Media. “With the launch of STIRR, Sinclair Broadcast Group is taking a pivotal step in offering their viewers a truly original and personalized viewing and user experience. We are incredibly excited to be working with STIRR as they endeavor to drive their next phase of digital growth with video. We look forward to playing an active role as its service evolves over the forthcoming years.”
