The latest monthly iPlayer performance pack from the BBC shows
that 187 million programmes were requested on the VOD service. The
really interesting news however is the proportion of requests made
on different devices.
Six months ago, in November 2011, 62% of iPlayer viewing was
done on computers, 7% on mobile devices and just 4% on tablets. Now
computer-based requests have fallen to 53% and mobile has risen to
9%. Tablet usage has climbed strongly to 9% of all requests.
Daniel Danker, head of the iPlayer told us recently that "Apple
recently declared BBC iPlayer the #1 UK app for the
iPad".
