BBC VOD Stats & Performance 2009 - 2012

An Excel spreadsheet version of the BBC's latest monthly iPlayer stats with underlying data and more graphs. Yours to download for free!

About once a month the BBC releases an 'iPlayer Performance Pack' which provides a lot of great information about how people use the organisation's on-demand services. The only downside is that it's packaged as a PDF. That's fine if you just want to copy and paste graphs but not so much if you want to get to the underlying numbers, add reference points or create your own charts.

I've spoken to the BBC's press office about this and whilst they don't supply an Excel version of the pack themselves they're happy for VOD Professional to share one that we've put together. The obvious proviso is that ours is not an official BBC document. For verified data you should always refer to the BBC iPlayer Performance Packs.

That said, our spreadsheet contains most of the important TV-related stuff that you'll find in the original plus a few extras and we'll aim to keep it as up to date as possible so that it stays useful throughout the year. It now includes all data released by the BBC up until the last performance pack was issued in January 2013. You'll need to register with, or sign in to, VOD Professional to obtain access and here's what you get:

Important Note: there are some minor discrepancies between our figures and official BBC data. That's because the BBC doesn't release exact numbers - they're either rounded either up or down for ease of use.

For reference, here's the original BBC document from which we sourced the data:
