Forgive the unashamed name-dropping but in the 6 months since
VOD Professional started I've been lucky enough to interview some
top people in the industry including Asha Oberoi, MD of ITN Source, Paul Myers, VOD Content Operations Manager
at Channel 4, Dave Grayland, Head of Tech for Virgin
Media, Edd Uzzell, Product Manager at Sony,
Florian Pestoni, Product Manager for Flash
at Adobe, Holly Knill, Head of Product at Sky,
Anthony Rose at Zeebox and Bismarck Lepe, CTO of Ooyala.
Yesterday I was able to add to that group by meeting Daniel
Danker, head of the BBC iPlayer. As you can imagine, I had lots of
questions to ask him in the 40-odd minutes we had together and,
listening to the interview again (which I recorded on my phone), he
says some fascinating things about user behaviour, BBC internal
methodologies and, particularly, connected TV and tablet use.
I'll post the full transcript up soon.
Later note: In the meantime,
here's the video of a panel discussion from the recent BBC
Online Industry briefing event in Manchester featuring
Daniel Danker, Edd Uzzell, Sidharth Jayant from Samsung and Mark
Vasey from Panasonic UK. The group are talking about
giving the audience an experience that is both delightful and
simple.
